Art Therapy
Odette Andre (HCPC)
Leicester, Leicestershire, Derbyshire
Odette believes that all behaviour and feelings serves a purpose, although this may no longer serve us and stops us living fully, impacting our relationships to others and ourselves. Strengths and difficulties can be expressed safely, witnessed and processed through the creation of art, creativity and play. Bridging the gap of internal world conflict being expressed externally.
She understands that engaging with art material can support regulation and provide communication that goes beyond words, expressed through symbols and metaphors.
Images are not diagnosed but meaning is explored from the individuals perspective. Often through linking in knowledge of science, art, history, stories and myths, and individuals personal narrative and meaning making.
Our hands know the way to healing often our head gets in the way.
Odette before being the director has been a therapy manager at a domestic abuse service working with trauma and loss. She works at the pace of the individual.
You may turn to art therapy when the weight of feelings, trauma or grief feels so heavy that it exists beyond words, requiring colours, textures, safety to express what the heart cannot speak.
Dance Movement Psychotherapy
Dorothy Tan (UKCP)
Leicestershire, Derby and Derbyshire
Dorothy offers integrative somatic therapy, combining creative and body-centred approaches, that gently meets you where you are. As a Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist (contrary to the name, there is no requirement to perform, dance, or to move in any particular way!)
Specialising in working with individuals who carry trauma in their bodies – those for whom words alone may not reach the depth of their experience, offering creative ways to express their inner world – she holds the space to invite you in discovering what wants to emerge from your experiences.
Her earlier social work background adds further depth to her understanding of systemic issues, family dynamics, and cultural contexts that shape our experiences.
She respects that you are the expert of your own experience while offering guidance, insight, and specialised knowledge to support your journey. Sessions unfold at your pace, with choice and compassion at the centre of the work.
Cultural Competency & Diverse Perspectives Having lived and practiced in both Singapore and the UK, Dorothy brings unique sensitivity to cultural differences in how we experience and express emotions, relating to our bodies, and understand healing.
Dorothy is committed to inclusive and affirming practice, especially regarding neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ experiences.
